WuXi AppTec is excited to announce the appointment of Dr. Thomas Halbritter as Director of Chemistry Operations at its new lab in Munich, Germany.
Dr. Halbritter will lead the extractable/leachables team at the new facility, which is scheduled to open in Q4 2024. He brings a wealth of experience to this role, spending much of his career in organic and analytical chemistry and laboratory management in academia and industry. He holds a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the Goethe University Frankfurt and brings a strong background in developing innovative solutions to complex scientific challenges.
Dr. Halbritter spent four and a half years at the University of Iceland as a scientific researcher and lab manager and more than two years in the industry as head of R&D for oligonucleotide and gene synthesis.
The new Munich lab includes over 1,500 square meters of dedicated space for extractables/leachables (E/L) analysis and is fitted with cutting-edge equipment. The central location provides access to Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and further afield, making it the perfect hub for WuXi AppTec’s Medical Device Testing Division in Europe.
Dr. Halbritter and his team will help WuXi AppTec serve customers who require specialized services like E/L testing, ensuring their products meet the highest possible safety standards and comply with regulatory standards, worldwide. Dr. Halbritter will work under Sandi Schaible, Executive Director and General Manager of WuXi AppTec’s St. Paul and Munich labs.
The new laboratory and the appointment of experienced and talented leaders like Dr. Halbritter reinforces WuXi AppTec’s dedication to serving the needs of its customers in Europe.
